American Society of Golf Course Architects members are offering to
spend a day reviewing a golf course and then providing a written analysis
of the course without obligation to undertake changes. The only cost
is a donation to the ASGCA Foundation. The offer applies to both public
and private courses, and Jay Morrish (President) hopes that many municipally
owned courses will take advantage of the opportunity to have a qualified
ASGCA member analyze their facility. To request a visit, or learn
more about the process, please contact the American Society of Golf
Course Architects by calling 312-372-7090.
You can also visit their web site at http://www.asgca.org.

* The Big 6 with... GolfSurfin.com
-----------------------------------------------------------------
1. Who - Who
are you?
GolfSurfin.com is the leading internet job board exclusive to the
golf industry.
2. What - What
product/service do you provide to the golf community?
Employers post ANY type of golf job from Cart Attendant to Sales Rep
to General Manager for a fee. Typically employers are charged $80.00/posting
for 30 days of advertising. Companies looking to fill multiple positions
are offered cost savings packages. Along with their postings, employers
gain free access to our resume database and pre-screening test to
"weed-out" unqualified candidates. Candidates view and apply
to our jobs 24 hours/day 7 days/week for FREE. As a result, GolfSurfin.com
averages 25,000-35,000 targeted hits daily.
3. How - How
does it work?
Employers can test the service by signing in on the left hand side
of the site with
the user name guest and password guest. If you like what you see please
contact us toll free 866-446-5378. First time users get to post for
FREE.
4. Where - Where
do you sell your product? Only in US, certain areas in US, worldwide,
etc. We post jobs within the U.S. and Canada and we have a section
for International opportunities.
5. When - When
did you begin, and how long have you been in business?
GolfSurfin.com's site was launched in October, 2000 after we conducted
an intense market research survey at the July, 2000 PGA Merchandise
Show in Las Vegas. Most exhibitors and attendees agreed the golf industry
was "fragmentized" and needed one main internet job site
to assist both candidates and employers within the golf industry.
Hence, advent of GolfSurfin.com.
6. Why - Why
should someone purchase your product over your competitions?
GolfSurfin.com uses "cutting edge" technology to save time
and money throughout the recruiting process. Features like our "pre-screening"
test, which gives employers the ability to ask up to 5 multiple choice
questions and unless they are answered correctly, the candidate cannot
apply to the job or re-take the test, significantly reduces the number
of unqualified applicants applying to opportunities on our board.
No other job board offer this feature and there is no additional cost
to use it! Employers receive FREE access to our resume database which
lists resumes no older than 6 months. Again, we do not want to waste
an employers time with candidates outside the job search market. There
are no ad size restrictions for postings and employers are able to
add their logo to the postings increasing brand awareness. Additionally,
employers are able to view posting statistics and can change the postings,
title, location, job description anytime. We were chosen by GOLF Magazine(May
2001) as their favorite job board for the golf industry and BOARDROOM
Magazine picked us as the "Best New Technology" site in
the golf Industry for 2001.
Finally, our company conducts business in a professional manner following
the highest standards of ethics and integrity meaning all of our jobs
are "real" and every employer is contacted before any postings
are listed on our board. Once the postings have expired the employer
must pay to extend them. This saves our candidates wasted time by
not having to apply to jobs already filled. Other smaller job boards
simply search the internet and "cut and paste" positions
on to their boards. In this instance, the positions may be already
filled, the candidate gets lost and receives no acknowledgement from
the employer, and the employers get bombarded with unqualified candidates.
The "poaching" of job postings wastes time for all parties
involved creating negative opinions about internet job boards.
If you'd like to participate in "The Big 6", and have you're
golf company highlighted here in future months, please send answers

* Product Test
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Product tested:
Ben Hogan Apex Tour golf ball
Claim to fame:
A 4-piece golf ball with an Energy Transfer Core, which allows for
faster ball speed off the driver and lower spin off the long irons.
Real-life results:
Our group of four testers (Handicap range of 8 - 22) found the Hogan
ball to be a wonderful new ball, that really delivers on the "feel"
aspect of the game. Some comments included, "Almost reminds me
of a balata ball", "feels right, which is more than I can
say for other balls", and "Feels great, and the price is
reasonable".
Overall rank:
8 of 10
