* The Big 6 with... Pixl Golf
-----------------------------------------------------------------

1. Who - Who are you?

Pixl Golf Company is a golf technology company located in Palo Alto, California, the heart of Silicon Valley. We are the inventors of pixel technology, the first technology to apply game improvement features to the club face. Pixl Golf was started by The Beta Group, a Silicon Valley technology incubator, that is responsible for such innovations as Flexon eyeglass frames that remember their original shape and Nitinol cardiovascular stents now made by a division of Johnson & Johnson. Pixl Golf is run by Art Chou, former Club R&D Director at Titleist and Technical Editor at Golf Digest.

2. What - What product/service do you provide to the golf community?

Pixl Golf manufactures award-winning putters, wedges, and irons using a proprietary pixel face insert. These face inserts are proven to make the club more forgiving by reducing the distance loss on off-center hits. Pixel technology is the first face insert concept that improves your mis-hits; this allows you to improve the
forgiveness of the club without changing the weight distribution or size of the head,
both of which result in a change in maneuverability.

Pixl awards include Putter of the Year (PGATour.com), #1 Wedge (Rankmark), and Best Wedge EVER (GolfTestUSA).

3. How - How do Pixl golf clubs work?

Our patented technology uses over one hundred individual pieces in the clubface to
create the ultimate combination of forgiveness and feel. Over one hundred pixels painstakingly handcrafted within one one-thousandth of an inch into a precision golf
instrument.

A conventional clubface acts like a trampoline, producing much less rebound on off
center hits. A trampoline produces the maximum rebound in the dead center and then produces increasingly less rebound as you travel towards the perimeter.

A Pixl Clubface acts like a mattress, producing a consistent rebound across the entire face. A mattress has uniform support and recoil throughout its surface. A mattress produces the same rebound in the center as it does on the perimeter.

4. Where - Where do you sell Pixl golf clubs?

Pixl products are available at authorized Pixl retailers such as Golfmart & Roger Dunn's (California) and Edwin Watts. For more information on a retailer near you go to www.pixlgolf.com or call 888-474-9546.

5. When - When did you begin, and how long have you been in business?

Pixl Golf first introduced pixel technology in 1997 by selling inserts to PING for their popular Isoforce line of putters. Pixl introduced their own line of Pixl branded products in 2000.

6. Why - Why should someone purchase Pixl golf clubs instead of the competition?

Pixl products are aimed at golfers who want the clean look of a classic head design
but also want improved forgiveness on their mis-hits. If you want a club that helps your mis-hits, try demoing a Pixl!

If you'd like to participate in "The Big 6", and have you're golf company highlighted here in future months, please send answers to "The Big 6" to golfprohelp@gmail.com.

* Knowing The Rules
-----------------------------------------------------------------

My Rules discussion for November occurred in a Minnesota competition, August 2001:

I was approached by several players at various times during the tournament who asked questions about "something" they had seen their fellow-competitor do.. asking if there should be a penalty:

1. The player stands on the opposite side of the hole from the ball and taps their very short putt into the hole. The line of putt does not extend beyond the hole [Reference Definition of "Line of Putt"]. And, as long as the player is actually striking the ball rather than pushing, scraping or spooning [Rule 14-1], there is no penalty, although this is not a recommended procedure.

2. During the backswing of a stroke at a ball in a water hazard, the club touched the grass in the hazard. There is no penalty. Refer to Rule 13-4's Note.

3. The player placed several clubs in the hazard prior to playing from the hazard. There is no penalty. Reference Rule 13-4, Exception (1).

4. A player pulled her ball out of the hole with her putter. There is no penalty. In this regard, the Etiquette section of the Rules of Golf, Care of the Course states:
Players should ensure that no damage is done in removing the ball from the hole.
