* The Big 6 with... The Gean-Edwards Company
------------------------------------------------------------

1. Who are you?
The Gean-Edwards Company, designer and manufacturer of premium quality golf socks since 1939, previously was the sport hosiery division of the Handcraft Company. Gean-Edwards was purchased by a group of Wisconsin investors, including women and veterans, at the beginning of 2001. While remaining steadfast in its's traditional commitment to quality and customer service the company has recently introduced several innovative products under it's new Sock Magic®, Promosox and Black Mountain labels. All products are manufactured, from USA made yarn, in the company's vertical mill located in Princeton, Wisconsin. Our web site is located at: http://www.gean-edwards.com/

2. What products/services do you provide to the golf community? Gean-Edwards takes pride in providing a wide array of premium quality golf socks designed to ensure comfort, fit and durability thereby enhancing the player's performance. Among the many product offerings are: Sock Magic® - Premium cotton/CoolMax® golf sock with ballmarker. Great tournament gift. The ball markers can be customized with company or course logos. Each pair of Sock Magic® socks has a small hand-sewn pocket inside one of the socks. The pocket holds a small Neodymium magnet that secures a metal ball marker to the sock. Markers are also available in a wide variety of standard designs. Promosox - Embroidered socks are great for tournament gifts, teams, schools, promotions, uniforms, and fund-raisers. Give your club, team, school, business, municipal or non-profit organization a look of distinction. All embroidery is done in-house. Classic Men's Styles, Classic Women's Styles, Hand Trimmed Women's Styles - finished by individuals, not machines, giving the products a unique style and quality. The Liberty Line - fund raising patriotic styles Black Mountain - cold weather socks for die-hard golfers. Outlast® Phase Change Technology enables Black Mountain socks to actually absorb and store excess body heat and release it back to the wearer when conditions cool down. Gift Packs - perfect for gift giving, golf outings and awards. They can be customized to fit your needs and budget.

3. How does Gean-Edwards work?
With the player's comfort in mind all Gean-Edwards socks are designed with at least one substantially long gore line, a visible line in the knit, resulting from a change in direction of the knit, causing the sock to conform comfortably to the wearer's foot. Additionally Gean-Edwards socks are made from the highest quality yarns consisting of long fibers thus ensuring durability. CoolMax® and Outlast® Phase Change Technology are among the fibers used to provide comfort in extreme temperatures.

4. Where do you sell Gean-Edwards products?
Gean-Edwards sells it's products to green grass shops, off course retail stores, event organizers, golf merchandise catalogs, golf merchandise distributors, gift catalogs, promotional products distributors, and golf apparel companies.

5. When did you begin and how long have you been in business?
The tradition of providing quality and service dates back to 1939, when Martha Hiestand began crocheting specialty caps at her home in Princeton, Wisconsin. Her husband Ernest, a traveling salesman for a ready-to-wear clothing company, began selling the caps in the Midwest. As the demand grew, the product line expanded to include slippers, mittens and socks. By the early 1950's Handcraft employed nearly 400. Ernest and Martha's son, Preston (Pres), was named Secretary and Treasurer. By the late 1970's Handcraft had sold its slipper business to focus exclusively on sock knitting. As President of Gean-Edwards, Pres Hiestand founded the Gean-Edwards Pro-Am golf tournament in 1975. The popular tournament raised money for the Golf Foundation of Wisconsin, Special Olympics and other charities. Pres Hiestand passed away on December 17, 2000, but the Gean-Edwards tradition lives on.

6. Why should someone purchase Gean-Edwards products instead of the competitions?
Gean-Edwards stands with pride behind its quality products, guaranteeing customer satisfaction. The company is equally proud of the support it gives to its wholesale customers. Real people who are on site answer telephone calls placed to the company during regular hours. Emails are also answered promptly by individual people. Products sold to US customers never linger on a barge offshore. All Gean-Edwards socks are 100% made in the U.S.A. by adults who care about your satisfaction.

If you'd like to participate in "The Big 6", and have you're golf company highlighted here in future months, please send answers to "The Big 6" to golfprohelp@gmail.com.
