"How to get golfers to repair their ballmarks" Peter Boyko, Toucan Golf A common complaint in the industry is the failure of many golfers, young and old, to repair their ball marks on the greens. If your course doesn't suffer from this malady, consider yourself a fortunate exception. Experience, the best teacher, has shown us and our customers that providing your golfers with a "Free" repair tool increases the chances that the player will repair his ball mark. Wheather this is contributed to appreciation, convenience or guilt is yet to be determined. However, whatever the reason, having the ball marks repaired more often is good enough for most of us. The cost of 12 cents per round can also be offset by advertisement of your own or that of a local sponsor. Bottling Companies, Insurance Agents, Phone Services, and other local business are prime targets to offset the low cost of these tools. The Advertiser gets to have their message displayed over and over for most of the season. These inexpensive repair tools, have been priced to be given away just for that purpose. Our survey also indicates that it doesn't deter your customers from purchasing the "higher priced" models. Millions have been sold each year for the past decade, virtual proof that they must be working. Think of it as a gift not only to your players but also to your superintendents and yourself. Peter
