Harrington Stays on Target with SST PURE®
MIAMI (Dec. 9, 2002) -- When Padraig Harrington brought his complete set of clubs to the SST PURE® Tour trailer to have his shafts SST PURE aligned in June before the U.S. Open, he told the Palm Beach (Fla.) Post,"We as players want the clubs to swing the same way every time, because that produces the best shots. I don't have any problem doing this before the U.S. Open because I know it's going to help my game."
Little did Harrington know that his PUREd shafts would help him to his most successful summer. Since June, Harrington won both the Dunhill Links Championship and the BMW Asian Open on the European Tour, was part of the European Ryder Cup team that upset the United States, and finished second on the 2002 Royal Order of Merit. Sunday he added to those accomplishments with a million-dollar victory over tournament host Tiger Woods at the Target World Challenge in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
"It was fantastic to watch Padraig's victory this weekend," SST founder Dick Weiss said. "He has experienced a lot of success since having his clubs PUREd this summer, and his latest win is no surprise."
Using proprietary computer software and sensitive data-acquisition sensors, the SST PURE shaft alignment process analyzes a shaft to locate its most stable orientation and neutralize the adverse effects of irregularities that exist in every shaft. When the club is assembled with the shaft in this PUREd orientation, off-line bending and twisting are minimized and impact repeatability on the center of the clubface improves up to 51 percent. The process, which has been utilized by more than 150 PGA TOUR players, can be performed on existing clubs, new clubs or new shafts --steel or graphite -- from most major manufacturers.
Upon having his shafts SST PURE aligned, a player receives a personalized computer printout confirming the process and an SST PURE shaft label for every shaft which has been PUREd.
