Sonartec
and Nick Price Winners at MasterCard Colonial
FT. WORTH, TEXAS (May 20, 2002) - Nick Price, who won last week's MasterCard
Colonial, did so with a Sonartec 3-wood. Price, who also won the Colonial
in 1994, shared his exhilaration with his caddy, family and fans. He
attributes his first-place finish this year partly to Sonartec fairway
woods.
"My Sonartec
equipment gives me the versatility to perform at the level I require
to win on the PGA Tour," said Price, 45, who has 17 PGA Tour
victories to his credit and currently ranks 5th on the PGA Tour money
list with $1,636,333. "They are precision-crafted clubs with
outstanding technology, look and feel."
Price, whose
last PGA Tour victory was four years ago at the FedEx St. Jude Classic,
concluded his final round Sunday, May 19, at The Colonial Country
Club in Ft. Worth, Texas, with five birdies, posting a 13-under 267,
five strokes ahead of Kenny Perry and David Toms. The only player
in the tournament with four subpar rounds, Price, who turned professional
in 1977, moved over the $16 million mark in career earnings with this
win. He has earned $1.6 million this season, his Tour-record ninth
$1 million season.
"We are
thrilled to see Nick win with Sonartec," said Toru Kamatari,
president of Sonartec. "He is one of the best players on the
PGA Tour, and we are glad to play a part in his victory."
Sonartec Inc.,
a Carlsbad, Calif.-based golf equipment company which produces the
patented Driving Cavity metal woods, has seen its numbers grow steadily
on the PGA Tour. Price, winner of three majors and 40 tournaments
worldwide, serves in an advisory capacity with Sonartec.
