RANKMARK RATES
TRUE CENTER NUMBER ONE
Rankmark, an
equipment-rating firm used in the golf industry by media outlets,
recently tested the TRUE CENTER Persimmon Insert putter. The TRUE
CENTER finished number one in player testing.
"We are
thrilled by the outcome our TRUE CENTER putter earned from the Rankmark
testers, but we aren't surprised," said Josh Fischer, Vice President
of Marketing. "The putter has slowly been gaining momentum since
we introduced it. I think it is just a matter of time before more
golfers discover how good Persimmon reacts on the putting green."
"Persimmon
has long been associated with feel," said Mike Just, President.
"The feel of the Persimmon insert in our TRUE CENTER putter line
is very natural. It provides really good feedback to the golfer, which
in turn allows him or her to make more putts; I think that is what
the Rankmark test proves."

Rankmark had
each tester putt four times from 10 feet with each putter being tested.
The TRUE CENTER putter was up against the top selling offerings from
the largest companies in the golf industry. Rankmark asked each tester
to rate the "feel" of each club, then the testers stroked
several putts and counted how many were actually "holed"
with each individual putter, finally, after the testing was completed,
Rankmark asked each tester to name their four favorites and awarded
points to each club mentioned.

TWO YEARS IN
THE MAKING
After almost
two years in development, Louisville Golf released the TRUE CENTER
putter line at the 2002 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida.
The putter features a Persimmon wood insert fitted into the face of
a stainless steel head.
The Persimmon
insert is stained mahogany and applied by hand to each TRUE CENTER
putter face by one of Louisville Golf's master craftsmen. The Persimmon
insert gives golfers the feel and feedback they have not found in
synthetic materials.
"Persimmon
on the face of a putter provides the perfect feedback for golfers
on the greens," said Fischer. "It's not too soft, nor too
hard - it's just the ideal insert material."
"No man-made
material can duplicate the vibration-dampening characteristic of Persimmon
wood," said Just. "We applied the same principle that is
behind the use of wood in the floors of gymnasiums. The vibration-dampening
characteristics of a wood floor preserves the knees of the athlete
who competes on it. The TRUE CENTER's Persimmon Insert provides the
same sort of vibration-dampening so you feel the ball in your stroke
and not the vibration from the impact."
Persimmon's natural
`modulus of elasticity' (2,010,000 lbs. per square inch), or rebound
characteristic, makes it ideal for putting; where feel between the
putter face and hands must be synchronized. The communication between
a golfer's hands and reaction of the ball at impact is the difference
between a made putt and a near miss.
While developing
the TRUE CENTER line, Louisville Golf discovered an added benefit
to applying Persimmon to the face of the putters. Each TRUE CENTER
putter weighs 325 grams, but to provide adequate room for the Persimmon
insert, 70 grams were milled from the face of the stainless steel
putters.
"By removing
21% of the putters' total weight from the center of the face, and
replacing it with Persimmon, a very light material by comparison,
we increased the TRUE CENTER's heel/toe weighting," said Just.
"This enhances the classic heel/toe weighted designs they already
possess, giving the TRUE CENTER putters a very high moment of inertia,
or resistance to twisting, at impact."
The first four
models of the TRUE CENTER line include a classic heel/toe weighted
design with full shaft offset (TC-1, RH/LH), a heel/toe weighted semi-mallet
with full shaft offset (TC-2, RH), a scoop-back blade with less offset
(TC-3, RH) and a center shafted scoop-back blade (TC-3C, RH).
Each TRUE CENTER
has a single sight line and comes decorated with the signature of
Louisville Golf founder Elmore Just. Just was golf's leading expert
on Persimmon and its use in the manufacturing of golf equipment. He
founded Louisville Golf in 1974 and passed away on April 23, 2001.
"Elmore
once said Persimmon is nature's gift to the game of golf," recalled
Fischer. "I believe he would be very proud to have his signature
on these putters. They stand for all he thought Persimmon wood could
provide golfers - feel, control and enjoyment."
