Media Awards Winners Announced by INGMA


KEYSTONE, CO - Golf Magazine and Golf Illustrated Magazine each took home two INGMA 2002 Media Awards presented at the 13th Annual ING Spring Conference & Championship Awards Banquet at Keystone Resort in Colorado.

Golf Magazine¹s John Feinstein won in the Opinion¹ category, and Alan Shipnuck won the Profile¹ category. Laurie Lee Dovey of Golf Illustrated won the Equipment¹ category, as did Mike Okamoto in the Illustration¹ category.

Nearly 200 golf industry and media leaders were in attendance at the annual gathering held to enhance and promote communication and education in golf. It is conducted on behalf of the International Network of Golf Members Association, a media-based networking organization.

The awards are given annually to INGMA members for an outstanding story or contribution in the following categories: Book, Travel, Equipment, Business, Opinion, Competition, Instruction, Profiles, Television, Radio, Illustration, and Photography. The winners are chosen by independent judges in the respective fields.

Other first-place winners were: ³Photography² - Warren Grant, Links Magazine; ³TV² - Tony Leodora, Inside Golf; ³Competition² - Mike Stinton, PubLinks Golfer Magazine; ³Instruction² -Parker Smith, Foresight; ³Travel² - Dove Jones, Affluent Golfer Magazine; ³Business² - Ronnie Musselwhite, Golf Business Magazine; ³Radio² - Robin Brown/Mark Crawley, CBC Canada; ³Book² - William Quirin, Clock Tower Press.

Each first-place winner received a handsome ³Fluid Swing² INGMA Media Awards trophy from EMI and $400 cash. Outstanding Achievement winners received a plaque.

Golfweek led the way in Oustanding Achievement with four winners, including two by Editor Dave Seanor, and Golf Illustrated had three.
