LOUISVILLE - The Louie3 is the third
putter in the Louie line, named after our namesake city, Louisville,
now the 16th largest city in the United States. Its brass heel/toe
construction is divided by a center piece of Persimmon which acts
as both a bridge and an insert. The light weight of the Persimmon
bridge accentuates the heel/toe weighted design of the putter while
the Persimmon insert provides an incredibly soft and responsive feel
at impact.
The Louie3, due to its Persimmon insert,
was brought into the TRUE CENTER line of putters. Louisville Golf
founder Elmore Just, whose signature the putter bears, once said:
"Persimmon is nature's gift to the game of golf." Known
for feel and accuracy, Persimmon makes for the perfect putting insert
material because of its modulus of elasticity; this translates into
a feel at impact that is not too soft, nor too hard - it is just right.
"This is the putter we have been
developing for several years. We are really excited that we are now
able to release it," said Josh Fischer, Vice President of Marketing.
"It is a putter that feels tremendous putting the ball. Its feel
is unlike any other putter out there."
"What makes the Louie3 TRUE CENTER
so effective is its Moment Of Inertia (the resistance to twist on
a club when it is hit off center)," said Mike Just, President
of Louisville Golf. "Its MOI is literally off the chart, measuring
at 29.25 ounces/inches squared. This is a very high MOI. It translates
to an extremely accurate putter coupled with the feel that Persimmon
is known for." By comparison, other putters typically have an
MOI of around 15 ounces/inches squared.
"The two things we were trying
to accomplish in designing the Louie3 TRUE CENTER putter were to provide
a uniquely proprietary feel with the Persimmon center insert and move
the weight to the heel and toe to get a higher MOI," said Fischer.
"We have exceeded our expectations on both counts."
In addition to the Persimmon insert
and the Brass body, the Louie3 TRUE CENTER is fit with a Stabilizing
Pin that runs throughout the center of the putter head that provides
feel and durability. It comes in one model that carries a half shaft
offset neck. Currently more models are in the works.
"Persimmon is light and dense and
durable. It gives us a manufacturing advantage due to the attributes
it possesses that allows us to move the weight around," said
Mike Just. "Metals are homogenous in terms of weight, so I think
we have a design advantage when we need to move weight around in the
head. The Louie3 TRUE CENTER is the first blade putter where we have
just begun to take advantage of the benefits of this extraordinarily
material."
The Louie3 TRUE CENTER comes in a right-handed
model with a suggested retail price of $125. It is available directly
