If there’s any question to who the hottest golf club on Tour is, Nickent Golf made a strong argument this weekend with another win on Tour.
Their 3DX Ironwood won on the PGA Tours for the second time in four weeks Sunday with a victory at the Nationwide Tour’s Henrico County Open. The 3DX also claimed the # 1 hybrid ranking for the second straight week on the Nationwide Tour and earned three Top 10’s at the event. Twenty-seven 3DX’s in six different lofts were in play.
This week’s Time Magazine called the 3DX “this season’s hot hybrid newcomer” in a category they described as” the most explosive trend in golf clubs.”
A big factor in determining a clubs “hotness” and success at retail is how many wins it can produce on the world’s top professional Tours. Three victories this year makes the 3DX the winningest hybrid on the 2005 PGA and Nationwide Tours. Only one other hybrid has won on the two Tours this year.
“We have been very fortunate with our recent Tour wins,” said Director of Marketing Jon Claffey. “Now we have more wins on the two biggest Tours in the world than any other hybrid. We feel that it is time to give this club its due as the # 1 hybrid on the market.”
Claffey went on to add that the results the 3DX provides are “undeniable” with 26 Top 10 finishes earned in 20 events on the Nationwide Tour.
“We really see ourselves as a game-enhancing company for every level of player,” said Claffey.
The winner this week shot 21-under par in just his 16th start on a professional Tour. He earned a career-best $81,000 to move from No. 40 to No. 7 on the official money list.
“I needed a breakthrough and luckily it was this week,” said the Henrico County champ. “Obviously everyone’s ultimate goal is to get to the PGA TOUR and this is a big step in that direction for me. But I’m happy out here. This is a great Tour. I think my goals will pan out in time.”
