Nickent Golf Launches Innovative PIPE Blade Putters

Nickent Golf sure knows how to bring in the New Year! The up-and-coming company that took the PGA Tour and the golf world by storm in 2005 announced today that the PIPE Putter is now available in two new “blade” version models: the PP-004 (Plumber-Neck Blade) and the PP-005 (Flare-Tip Blade).

Initial manufacturer tests show that the innovative design of the PIPE Blade makes it the highest MOI blade putter in the game.

“In the era of high-MOI putters, there are only a few putters out there that have the ability to be a blade style design and a high MOI putter,” said Nickent Senior Vice President John Hoeflich. “Our new PIPE Blade features a classic blade shape combined with a very high MOI created by the light thermoplastic PIPE scheme and heavy tungsten back weight. It’s two putter design elements in one for the best in feel, alignment and traditional beauty.”

The announcement of the Pipe Blades follows the introduction of three new models of the PIPE Putter in October: the center-shafted PP-002, the plumber-necked PP-003 and the left-handed version of the original PIPE. MSRP is set at $199 for all five PIPE Putter models. All models are available for immediate shipment.

Tour success on the PGA, LPGA and Champions tours, coupled with an extremely strong consumer reaction to the revolutionary design, led the PIPE Putter to be one of the most popular putters of 2005 for retailers worldwide.

According to Golf Datatech off-course sales numbers, the PIPE was one of the biggest success stories for new products launched in 2005. This helped Nickent move into the ranks as a core player in the ultra-competitive putter market.

Company officials believe the biggest reason consumers have taken so strongly to the PIPE is because it works as promised. Independent club testers like Rankmark ranked the PIPE as their # 1 overall putter and the PIPE was named a better alignment putter than the Odyssey 2-Ball and PING Craz-E putters by independent tester GolfTest USA.

More than Meets the Eye

The PIPE is marketed first and foremost as an alignment putter because of its revolutionary 3D alignment capabilities. However, it’s a much deeper design than just alignment.

The design in both the mallet and blade versions produces a very high moment of inertia and an extremely low center of gravity. The main differences between the blade and mallet versions are that the blade has nearly a half inch shorter PIPE and that it does not have the perimeter bars of the mallet design. A tungsten plug in the rear of the pipe section accounts for 15% of the weight of the putter, pulling back the CG as far back as possible in a putter design. This combined with the P-Line® face insert accounts for the PIPE Blade having 24% less skid than other high MOI putters and is what has enabled Nickent to design a blade putter with a substantially higher MOI than other blade putters on the market. Ask your local retailer about the new blades today, because with the PIPE, seeing is believing!
